The project is rooted in something as ancient as it is essential in architecture: proportion. It is through the meticulously calibrated width of the elements that the desired spatial relationship is achieved.
In this area of Madrid, the relationship with the surroundings takes on a singular value. To achieve this, the project deliberately moves away from a compact volume and adopts an ascending layout that evokes certain works by Andreu Alfaro. The design seeks to resolve a dichotomy: to be both geometric and organic.
The project brings together two ancestral archetypes: the pavilion, understood as an open and centrifugal space, and the courtyard, conceived as a more contained and open-air realm. These volumes are juxtaposed to optimise circulation. From this relationship emerge five gardens, each with its own identity, defined by the architectural arrangement.

Photoshoot | Alicante House

Our studio has recently carried out the photoshoot of Alicante House, one of our latest projects, located in Alicante. For this occasion, we collaborated with the renowned photographer and videographer Jesús Orrico.
Most of the house is developed on a single level, yet it is defined by a section with varying heights that adds spatial richness to the overall design. In this sense, the daytime living area takes on a leading role by rising above the rest of the spaces, creating an area with greater generosity and character.
This space is conceived as an open, through-flowing area, free of intermediate supports, which reinforces visual continuity, flexibility of use, and a sense of structural lightness, while also encouraging a fluid relationship between the different rooms and the surrounding environment.

WABISABI magazine has featured an article dedicated to Mas Cadalt in its January/February issue, a project located in the Serra de Canet d’Adri, Girona.
WABISABI is a bimonthly magazine devoted to architecture, interior design and contemporary art, whose editorial approach draws inspiration from the Japanese aesthetic that celebrates simplicity, essence and imperfection. The publication offers a thoughtful and critical perspective on the act of creating and inhabiting, focusing on projects that advocate for a sensitive, enduring architecture deeply connected to its context.
The article presents Mas Cadalt as a careful rehabilitation of an old farmhouse in ruins, set within the mountainous landscape of Serrat de la Cadalt in Girona, transformed into a contemporary home without losing its original identity. The feature analyses how the project preserves the rural volumetry and typology, reconstructs the stone walls using traditional techniques, and contrasts the vernacular exterior with a white, luminous interior of precise geometry. By harnessing natural light and reinterpreting local materials such as lime, stone and cork, the project achieves a self-sufficient dwelling that is integrated into the landscape and balanced between memory and contemporary living.

New project in Baghdad
New project in Baghdad
08/12/2025
The new project in Irak is conceived with a singular geometry: a series of juxtaposed cylinders whose 45-degree cuts, both at the base and at the top, define the relationship between architecture and its surroundings.
This formal operation allows the ground floor to generate deep shadows and direct access to the garden, while the upper cuts shape protected terraces that offer an intimate way of enjoying the outdoors.
The spatial organisation emerges from a sequence of circular rooms that gradually reveal themselves as one moves through the house. This measured progression creates an interior rhythm in which each space acquires its own identity without losing continuity with the whole.
The project seeks to integrate into its context through a volumetry that combines practicality and aesthetic intention. The architecture adapts to the conditions of the place, using geometry as a tool to generate shade, privacy, and a continuous dialogue with the surrounding landscape.

Our project Villa 95 has been the winner in the Excellent Architecture category at the renowned German Design Awards 2026.
The German Design Award is the most important international prize granted by the German Design Council, the country’s leading authority in the sector. The aim of the awards is “to discover, present and recognise innovative trends in the field of design across different categories.”
Villa 95 emerges from the main premise of maximising the relationship between the home and its natural surroundings, seeking for everyday living to merge with the place. The site has a slight slope, which provides a wide depth of landscape. The project is configured through three simple elements that are grouped dynamically to adapt to the orientation and the complex geometry of the plot.

Domus magazine has featured Casa Camiral in its most recent issue, one of the latest completed projects.
Founded in 1928 by Gio Ponti, Domus is one of the leading international publications in the fields of architecture and design. Its editorial trajectory is defined by its focus on works that combine innovation, constructive rigor, and a thoughtful relationship with their environment.
The article examines how Casa Camiral integrates into the natural landscape surrounding the Camiral Golf Club in Girona. The geometry of the house responds to the longitudinal configuration of the plot through a shifted upper volume that creates a generous protected outdoor space, oriented toward the open views of the site.
The publication highlights the way the interior spaces connect with the exterior, establishing a continuous sequence between both areas. The material selection and the precision in defining the volumes reinforce the project’s aim of achieving an architecture attentive to its context and to the experience of its inhabitants.
Its appearance in Domus represents a new recognition of the studio’s work and its commitment to an architecture that seeks the synthesis between form, light, and place.
Additionally, Bjarke Ingels, CEO of BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), concludes his year as guest editor of Domus by proposing the immaterial as the new frontier of design and architecture. He signs an editorial in which he reflects on the inspiration that led him to this theme, connecting his vision with the work of Refik Anadol and the fusion between the digital and the natural.

Talk with Martha Thorne for Gallery Talks
17/11/2025
Fran Silvestre has been invited to take part in one of the upcoming editions of Gallery Talks, the new podcast format produced by the Gallery Institute.
Gallery Institute is an international platform dedicated to documenting and sharing the stories that define the present and future of art, architecture, and design.
The session, recorded in Portugal, is part of a series that seeks to transform dialogue into experience. In this setting, Fran Silvestre engaged in a conversation with Martha Thorne, former Executive Director of the Pritzker Prize and current Director of Strategic Institutional Relations at Gallery, in which they explored the conceptual, material, and cultural foundations that underpin the studio’s thinking.
More than an interview, the talk forms part of the archive of ideas that Gallery is building to preserve and project the most significant contributions to architectural culture. The conversation with Fran Silvestre will be added to a series of episodes beginning with a special dedicated to Álvaro Siza.
The episode will be published soon on Gallery Institute’s platforms, as the institution continues to expand its archive of stories as a legacy for future generations.

The prestigious supplement Fuera de Serie, from the newspaper Expansión, has featured Bodegas Dominio D’Echaux, a recent project by our studio.
Fuera de Serie is Expansión’s lifestyle and luxury magazine. Its content focuses on topics such as architecture, design, art, travel, automobiles, fashion, gastronomy, and profiles of influential figures — always from a sophisticated and aspirational perspective. The magazine highlights how the project combines constructive innovation, sustainability, and landscape sensitivity, once again reinforcing Fran Silvestre Arquitectos’ commitment to precise, elegant architecture deeply connected to its context.
Located in Zayas de Báscones (Soria), the project rises among the vineyards as a white, sinuous form that dialogues with the geometries of the landscape and blends gently into its surroundings. This winery not only houses the research facilities of Vitis Navarra but also safeguards and protects the genetic biodiversity of grapevines in Spain, including those species that still survive on the margins of the landscape and of time. The longitudinal layout of the proposal responds to the sequence of the winemaking process: from the arrival and destemming of the grapes, through fermentation in steel tanks, to the aging room with oak barrels, and finally, bottling. This linear path expands at specific points to incorporate a social and tasting area, as well as spaces dedicated to research and storage, while always maintaining the functional logic of the oenological process.
The walls, made of hempcrete blocks —a mixture of plant fibers, lime, and water— laid vertically, gain greater structural inertia thanks to their curved geometry and are reinforced by a lightweight, single-pitch metal roof. All the building elements are unified through a continuous coating of white Diathonite, a natural cork-based mortar applied to walls, floors, and ceilings. This system not only contributes to a unified and natural appearance but also provides significant thermal inertia, essential to ensure stable conditions inside the winery and to promote the optimal development of the wine during aging.
Bodegas Dominio D’Echaux joins projects by Carme Pinós, Francesc Rifé, and Norman Foster in Fuera de Serie’s feature on Architecture in the Vineyard — a collection showcasing different ways of capturing the formal spirit of wineries.

Is it possible to restore a way of life? Can it be done with the same delicacy used to recover an ancient object?
This project began with understanding, followed by intervening only where necessary. Located in the heart of Serrat de la Cadalt, the commission consisted of updating an abandoned farmhouse to suit contemporary needs. By applying the principle of innovative tradition, the original volume and typology are respected—only what is necessary is updated and transformed.
The residents left everything behind in London to begin a new life in Girona, surrounded by trees, peace, and light.

AD has featured the collaboration between Fran Silvestre Arquitectos and Nerinea in its FOMO selection.
This curated selection highlights the designs and collaborations that, according to the magazine, “no one in the architecture and design world can afford to miss.” It includes the collection of sculptural pieces in natural stone designed by our studio and produced by Nerinea, a leading company in the national market, recognized for its excellence in the design, production, and commercialization of natural stone.
The collection, composed of a series of objects made from Carrara and Marquina marble, establishes a direct dialogue between form and matter, between architectural lines and the timeless density of stone. Each piece is made to order, allowing for customization in size and stone type.
In addition to the classic varieties, the series includes a special edition crafted in Jurassic Fossil — a material of fossil origin with over 150 million years of history — recently presented at the Marmomac international fair in Verona. According to the magazine, this material introduces a temporal dimension to the object: contemporary design inscribed within a material that holds the memory of the Earth.
