Our recently completed project Casa Sabater has been selected to appear on the cover of THE PLAN in its 149th issue, corresponding to the sixth issue of 2023.
THE PLAN, distributed by subscription and on newsstands and bookstores with 8 issues published each year (6 regular and 2 special issues), is one of the most acclaimed architecture and design magazines on the market. Thanks to its strongly international focus, it is one of the most widespread and read magazines in Italy and in the world, with a significant readership of professionals from the architecture, design, construction and real estate sectors, as well as of university faculties. The magazine has subscribers in 70 countries and distribution in newsstands, airports, train stations, shopping centers and bookstores in 41 countries.
The project consists of four architectural elements that descend elegantly down the slope of the land, adapting to its unevenness and offering direct views of the forest and the sea from its rooms. For the images we have had the renowned photographer Fernando Guerra. More information here.

El Colegio Territorial de Arquitectos de Alicante celebra la Semana de la Arquitectura, con actividades abiertas a toda la ciudadanía y organizadas del 26 de septiembre al 4 de octubre de 2023.
This year also sees the premiere of the OPEN ALC festival, which consists of a series of guided visits to some architectural pieces that are part of Alicante and the province. These visits are open to all citizens and have been designed in order to review the good design and quality architecture that exists in Alicante.
Our studio will open the doors of one of the latest recent projects, Casa Sabater. The project located in a small town on the Costa Blanca emerges as a piece of contemporary architecture in the shape of a double Y.
The house, which is presented as a continuous dialogue with the exterior, consists of four architectural elements that descend, adapting to the slope of the land and that suggest the geometries that we often find in nature. These geometries, in turn, seek to overcome the vegetation of the plot in order to preserve it. The implementation delimits three different areas: the access, as a porch, the private atmosphere of the rooms facing the hillside and the space that opens to the landscape.
Each volume frames a part of the privileged environment, generating a sequence of landscapes that blur among the vegetation, generating the impression of having no limits and offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding forest and the sea from each of its rooms.

The article highlights the trajectory of the studio and the constant research around the limits.
It mentions one of our recent works, Roca Views Ibiza, a project that faces the challenge of integrating into a steeply sloping terrain in Roca Llisa, Ibiza. The magazine also shows The Sphinx project located in Egypt, which it indicates seeks to transcend the structural limits of the architectural cantilever, as well as the emblematic House on the cliff project.
It also mentions the influence of collaborations and family background in engineering as factors that contribute to the study’s own methodology and mentions the study’s multidisciplinary team, which seeks to face new challenges and adapt to more sustainable ways of living in the future. With its large windows and two porches that face opposite directions, this is the ideal home to bring the outdoors in, with maximum comfort.
This is an extremely spacious two-story home that follows the classic distribution of day time areas on the first floor and night time areas on the upper floor.
The first floor contains the living-dining room and kitchen, separated by the service and communication core. The living spaces are extended outwards with two generous covered terraces.
These terraces, located on opposite sides of the home, provide protection from the sun and rain, thus allowing year-round enjoyment of this connection to the outdoors.
On the upper floor, four double bedrooms —one with an en-suite— open onto a large terrace that overlooks the porch. With large glass panes running its entire length, the second floor is bathed in light.

The Villa is organized in three volumes of different heights arranged organically on irregular platforms. Its perimeters of curved walls are connected, generating empty spaces that give rise to patios in which various uses are developed.
Each of the volumes is configured according to the function it contains, the first for the most public area, another for the most private areas and the last for the service area. The interior rooms, which are closed only when strictly necessary, open up to the unique views that transform this villa into a unique place with multiple settings.

COMPLUVIUM HOUSE
17/07/2023
The Greeks, as well as the Etruscans and the Romans used compluvium in aristocratic dwellings to lead rainwater to the impluvium. This opening, which was made in the center of the domus, was initially used to vent the smoke from the fires made in the homes. Over time, this aperture kept growing in proportion favoring the lighting, the ventilation of the rooms and the collection of water that was carried out in the impluvium.
We like to think of this house located in the center of Madrid as an interpretation of this element, which also grants privacy to the house from neighboring buildings. The rooms open out to the interior space, the opposing spaces allow an axial vision throughout the plot.
With this mechanism it is sought that the house meets the duality of having a very open spatiality and simultaneously a bounded perception of space.
This element allows to have a wide exterior space whose shadow evolves throughout the day. Inside this area there is a water sheet located at the only point of the place where the distant views escape above the neighboring houses.
