The Elle Decoration Design Awards 2024 served as a platform to highlight the importance of design as an agent of social change, challenging established norms and offering innovative solutions for the contemporary world. The jury, also composed of figures such as Carlos Urroz, Inma Bermúdez, and Diego Rodríguez, evaluated the nominees in seven categories that included Designer, Interior Designer, Sustainability, Architecture, Social Consciousness, and Future.

The ceremony was conducted by Mar Saura, who brought warmth and closeness, and the evening was enlivened by the music of Miss Violina, creating a magical atmosphere for the attendees.

The winners of the various categories were:

– Designer of the Year: Andreu Carulla, recognized for his versatile projects ranging from swimwear collections to socially conscious initiatives.

– Interior Designer of the Year Award: Quintana Partners, for its ability to fuse nostalgic and avant-garde styles in international interiors.

– Sustainability Award: Philippe Starck, for his ability to integrate functionality and aesthetics, reinventing objects and spaces with an ecological approach.

– Architecture Award: Estudio Tuñón y Albornoz, for their work on the Royal Collections Museum.

– Social Conscience Award: Hortensia Herrero, for her contribution to the arts and the rehabilitation of a baroque palace to house contemporary art.

– Future Award: Lucas Muñoz, for his innovation in the use of recycled materials in the creation of objects and functional spaces.

This event not only celebrated individual achievements, but also the role of design in building a more just and responsive society.

The recognition of Doctor Magno has been used, historically, to highlight the role of eminent figures in different fields of knowledge, especially and originally, those related to philosophy and theology. Nowadays, the meaning of the honorary doctorate is focused on recognizing an academic or expert who has made significant contributions in their professional field, both in theory and in practice.

The award is granted by the Professional Association of Doctors of the Valencian Community, chaired by Mr. José Francisco Tárrega Andreu and aims to promote, train and disseminate the figure of the Doctor, valuing his performance as a researcher, as a teacher and also as a professional, fields in which Fran Silvestre has excelled with excellence.

Projects analyzed by some of the most renowned architecture critics of the contemporary scene, such as Philip Jodidio or David Cohn, among others, and awarded internationally; a teaching activity distributed among several universities and with a very positive assessment by the students, having been invited to lecture at universities in the United States, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Spain; and numerous articles published in indexed academic journals and other international research publications, have led the Professional Association of Doctors of the Valencian Community to recognize his work as a doctor being the distinguished figure in this 2024.

The Delta Selection, a biennial benchmark in the industrial design landscape, not only recognizes the work of designers and production companies, but also provides an invaluable platform for promotion and public recognition.

The final evaluation will be carried out by an independent and international Jury, composed of renowned professionals such as Raffaella Mangiarotti, Lucas Muñoz Muñoz, Phillipe-Albert Lefebvre and Marisa Santamaría, who will examine the products on May 21, 2024. The winners, who will be announced at the ADI Awards Ceremony on June 13, 2024, will receive a trophy designed by LÚCID Design Agency, symbolizing the triumph of innovation and creativity.

NIU seeks to innovate construction systems to increase precision in the materialization of architecture and is born from the desire to give a global response to the current processes of architecture and construction. Therefore, we have designed a system to execute the manufacture of houses in the most efficient and effective way. Our work process integrates all the necessary phases in the construction of a design house: from the architectural project -including the management with the administration and the coordination of all the agents involved in the construction- to the interior design. The rigorous systematization of all the operations involved in this integral process guarantees the successful materialization of our houses.

The Daphne table is composed of two identical pieces, with a geometry endowed with a curved shape, which are repeated to overlap symmetrically and are arranged giving rise to a support piece on which a circular glass is deposited. The glass allows to glimpse and contemplate the network of tangent lines and curves that make up the stone support and give character to the table.

The ArchDaily organization has extended an invitation to the community to participate in the popular vote, which will remain open until March 26. This democratic process allows the public to play a crucial role in the selection of the winner, giving “The Empty House” the opportunity to be celebrated not only by experts, but also by admirers of architecture from around the world.

The Empty House, located on the main street of a town near Valencia, is a house that is part of a fragment of the history of the twentieth century. The façade and the footprint of the existing building are protected, but the volume exceeds the needs of the new project. Faced with this situation it is proposed to empty the interior space in ruins and show it in an innovative way. From the outside, the façade maintains its character, without modifying the street, which is transformed into a kind of scenography of another era. The tone of this old facade is unified with an antelope gray treatment that goes completely unnoticed.

Crossing the threshold we find ourselves in another time. It is closed and air-conditioned only what is necessary and generates a triple-height volume that in a climate like the Mediterranean can be used throughout the year. The day area is joined to the dividing wall, in continuity with a swimming pool with sufficient size for swimming, which seems to get lost in the Valencian orchard. Solving the twist that the plot has on the ground floor are the guest room and the multipurpose room, a twist between two pieces separated by just a few millimeters. The rest of the space on this floor is empty, which makes us wonder about the size of a room whose depth of landscape seems to have no limits.

The night area is arranged transversally as a bridge framing the views. The master bedroom is located above the living room with the same orientation. The section gives us a floor with sloping roofs with an entrance of zenithal light, a space that time will give its use. The wood of the old beams of the ruined house are reused to build the furniture of the house, and as has been sought with the space of the house, it becomes a material that acquires a new life.
