Our studio has won the second prize in the seventh edition of the bulthaup competition: kitchen as a living space. The aim of this competition is to recognize those projects by architects and designers from Spain, Portugal and Andorra that have a bulthaup kitchen as the protagonist and that reflect the values of the brand: creativity, quality of details and aesthetic conception.

Next Thursday, September 24th at 7:30 p.m., the presentation of the Aires Mateus monograph: Architecture 2003-2020 edited by TC Cuadernos will take place in the IVAM, Valencia.
During the presentation, there will be a colloquium between Manuel Aires Mateus and Fran Silvestre about different aspects of the work of the Portuguese studio.
The project Kouros Tower has been declared as winner of the prestigious German Design Awards in the category Excellent Architecture.
German Design Awards are the official design awards in Germany granted by the Ministry of Economy and Technology of the country and it focuses on the outstanding achievements in the different fields of design. The German Design Award identifies and presents unique design trend.
The Greeks, as well as the Etruscans and the Romans used compluvium in aristocratic dwellings to lead rainwater to the impluvium. This opening, which was made in the center of the domus, was initially used to vent the smoke from the fires made in the homes. Over time, this aperture kept growing in proportion favoring the lighting, the ventilation of the rooms and the collection of water that was carried out in the impluvium.
We like to think of this house located in the center of Madrid as an interpretation of this element, which also grants privacy to the house from neighboring buildings.

Located on a hillside near the Itanhangá golf course in Rio de Janeiro, the house is composed of two volumes that are jointly deposited on the ground.Each of these elements rests on a band that supports it, deposited on each other they liberate the corner which facilitates the construction making the minimum possible earth movement and characterizing the building.

The project Hofmann house has been declared as winner of the prestigious German Design Awards in the category Excellent Architecture.

The second edition of the monograph of our studio, Scenaries for Life, edited by TC Cuadernos, is now available after the first one is sold out.
The monograph compiles in 224 pages the most significant works made by our studio from its foundation until 2018.
The main works such the House of the cliff, the Balint House or the House between the pine forest, developed with plans for the first time in this volume. The interior design, the rehabilitation and the big scale works are also included.
The house located in a privileged environment, arises from its implementation in the place. A plot with a steep slope that descends to the east and main views that open out to the south.
With this starting point the house is deposited in the upper level, supported by a single element arranged perpendicularly to the mountain.

The second monograph of our studio, La belleza eficaz, has been sold out and a new edition is now available. The monograph is produced in Italy by the publishing house Casa Editrice Libria, within the Arianuova collection, an Italian publishing house specialized in architectural books that is characterized by a careful design that values the essence of the projects through a simple graphic design and direct, all this collected in a small format that converts each of its publications into an unique book.
The publisher has also published monographs of international architecture studios such as Barozzi Veiga, Bak Gordon, Tatiana Bilbao, Alberto Campo Baeza, Claus in Kaan, Steven Holl, Ensemble Estudio, Livio Vacchini or Pezo von Ellrichshausen.

The house in Sotogrande designed by our studio, has been published in Arquitectura y Diseño, one of the most read magazines in the sector.
Located in front of the Sotogrande’s golf course, the house proposes to inhabit the shade generated between the ground floor plan and the roof. A large cantilever allows to stop the intense sun of Cádiz and to protect from the abundant rains of the area of the Sierra de Grazalema.

Our studio has been published in Esquire, a magazine that every month is the meeting point of the best writers, photographers, stylists and all those who best represent the man of the XXI century, feeding his social conversation with his prescriptive power, his journalistic rigor and an iconic design.
The project Alzheimer’s treatment center arises from a double commitment, to respond to a very specific needs program and, on the other hand, to the coexistence with pre-existence.
It’s projected an articulated building on two levels, on the ground floor, the most public spaces are linked with the landscaped courtyard and with the current building, allowing a fluid relationship between both. On the upper floor, a closed patio is generated in order to provide privacy and a control of the lighting of the most private spaces, such as the multisensory stimulation room or the administration rooms of the center.

With more than 4000 different projects published during 2018, the magazine has decided to end the year with a selection of 80 houses where the architectural design, materials and construction innovation or challenging topography stand out.
